I don't like this idea or that other idea he came up with.

its not too well thought out, if he wanted to play a underwater area, just go play some other mmo that has that capability.

that said,

underwater/oceanic enviroments could work. We could go and explore the sunken city of Arah on the orrian pennisula- the Guild Hall island used to be part of Orr- which is the lost city of the Gods of Tyria and Arah could have magical secrets that renders Arah being like a normal EA enviroment but, we'd need a quest/mission to be able to go (teleport) to that particular area. anywhere else is iffy at best.

swimming is defintely out of the question. Tyrian humans ain't mermaids.

Im more aligned to the idea of a sunkin ruins... I dont know if it would involve swimming thouh.. The ruins is a big opportunity for a storyline boost in my opinion.

In the age of magic teleporters and snake people, I'm sure there are better ways to access sunken ruins than primitive swimming.

yeah, given the time it takes to even run somewhere in GW, imagine trying to SWIM?

and then we'd have the people "PAYING 5k FOR SWIMMER TO ROF!"

no thanks.

*edited*

BUT with the idea of the sunken Orr, maybe an idea is that somehow the Gods were able to 'preserve' the city as in an atlantis idea. maybe some magic dome encasing the city in air.

maybe something along those lines.. a secret teleporter deep in the heart of the shiverpeaks that once led to the ancient city, which in order to get there now, you need to find 10 crystals strewn around the continents (or areas) "2 in kryta, 2 in ascalon, 2 in ring, 2 in desert, 2 lower shiverpeaks" for example.

place the crystals on the teleporter, alakazam, bunch of lights flash, crystals start levitating around the platform, group steps on it.. and BAM. underwater city of Orr, complete with Orr Armorer, Orr weaponry, and plenty of quests and whatnot.

kinda like the sound of it.. i should work for anet.

oo ... bringing in Orr would be cool. But swimming seems ... weird. My character already runs funny ... imagine how she'd swim. I dunno, we already have the really annoying problem of invisible walls, imagine that underwater where you could possibly run out of air.

Swimming seems like it belongs more in a game where you can do more than just run. (walk, jump, roll ... hey, it's like Zelda!)

I like the idea of boats and battles on water, or a mission on a boat, but then how does that fit in with the idea of map automatic travel?

Evlesoa I must say I'm extremely confused. Your post has little to no coherence and your grasp of the english language is at best poor, both in understanding others and explaining yourself.

Firstly I have no idea why you are angry at me. I was arguing with those out there who are obsessed with realism, from what I've read you are of the opinion that realism is bad or have I misinterpretted your unitelligible ravings.

Secondly you provide absolutely no ideas on storyline. Am I meant to believe water=stuff makes a good story? And what is this talk of Atlantia? This game is set in a fictional universe, how does Atlantia fit into the story? If you want an underwater scenario you have to link it into the guild wars universe and give some sort of explantion as to why it is important within this setting. And I'd like to point out that the islands do in fact play a purpose. Some of the islands are the fire isles, which are playable. One of the islands is where your Guild Hall is situated and another is home to a PvP arena.

A bit of advice, think through your ideas before you post them and try to be more coherent. Thats all for now.

Thanks.

Omg what ever. But i wish you could go in water. I mean the water is like 4 feet deep and it wont let u go in. I wish there was swimming but for short periods of time. Like 2 mins to get sumwhere max. Cuz there are no rivers you can go into or anything like that. It also be nice to have boats or sumthing to travel to islands. And if they are nearby swim. But u dont like that idea....

I think adding a mission of pure exploration would be nice. As someone suggested before, "deep in the heart of the Shiverpeaks" there could be a teleporter.
Maybe, actually, let us go North of Giant's Basin. There we could have something along the lines of the way you open the Henge Gate. Eventually leading to an ancient teleporter made in the Early years of mankind. This teleporter would lead to Arah, which has been preserved by the Gods, though it sank. Make it almost like Atlantis, but seemingly uninhabitted...

To be clear, I don't think that GW will ever support underwater exploration. The game engine would need tweaking, and I don't think NCSoft wants to deal with that. I do think that it would be funny if it were possible though... cast an enchantment on teammates to allow for underwater breathing... then run into monsters that can dispel enchantments, causing instant death. Those mesmers and rangers in the team would need to act quick with those disrupting spells/arrows... but those arrows would be slowed by the water... oh well, death for me...

Mods can you please do something about Evlesoa. He/she refuses to be coherent and also insists on abbreviating everything. I know that this is in opposition to forum rules of conduct. Some of the posts he/she has written are unfathomable.

I may be out of topic for this one.

it would be nice to have underwater missions. ex. the empire of Orr(remembered it when i saw one of the postings about Orr)). It was destroyed and I think it sunk in the sea/ocean. Missions to get something from there would be nice to reveal more of the story why it was destroyed. reveal more stories about the guild wars.
